Jess was so cute when I dropped her off at KDO this morning. She did her usual "no, no, no" shaking her head when I got out of the car at the school. She got out of her carseat and maneuvered to the far corner of the car from where I was. Being 35 degrees outside, I crawled into the back seat to finish putting her costume on along with her coat and mittens. She had tights on, so she curled up in a ball as I carried her quickly inside. Then when we got to her room, she just stayed curled up with her little head on my shoulder like she didn't ever want to leave that spot. I kissed her and she smiled. Then the teacher came and got her. She curled up in a ball in her arms and put her little head on the teacher's shoulder. I'm telling you - sooooo cute. But when isn't she... pics to come.

I'm bad at blogging...

So I haven't posted a blog in like 7 months. Way not good, because this was how I was supposed to keep track of progress! Anyway, I'll try a few

Jessica started walking on her own across the house on June 12. Her birthday party on June 14 was lots of fun with all our friends and the pool at Grandpa Earl and Grandma Jackie's house. We went to Branson for David's company vacation trip and got to go to Silver Dollar City on Jessica's first birthday. :) We bought our house here in Springdale that same week, so we moved in as soon as we got back from Branson and we just love it! It is the perfect size for us and a God story, so we love that. Jssica loves it too - plenty of room for her to run around and scatter her toys. lol. It's close to Daddy's work, so she gets to see him for lunch too and she LOVES that.

She is saying all kinds of words now, especially "no", "bye", "hi", "more", "milk", "kiss", "gramma", "daddy", "mama", "papa", "kitty", "meow", "arf", "walk". She says lots of other things, too, but you have to know her to understand them at this point. Like "roll it over" "outside" "patty cake" "jessica". It's great.

She's also figuring out some pretty awesome stuff - like how to change positions to make things work (i.e. spinning daddy in the chair is more easily accomplished using his foot than the armrest). :) She has taken the batteries out of the tv remote, unloaded my bookshelves, opened doors, tries to put her own shoes on and really enjoys brushing her own hair.

Oh, and she loves to read - to herself. She will go in and get her books out and sit pointing to the pictures and talking (telling the story or talking to the pictures or something) for long periods of time. And she really likes it if we put her in the big rocking chair so she can read there. :)

I'm sure there are lots of things I am missing, but I'm just really enjoying being a mom and although it's totally going to escape me before I know it, the experience is a real blessing.

Background

Ok, so I'm Brandy. Jessica is our 8-1/2 month old daughter who is a delight and a half. She is so laid back and sweet: a total princess. Of course, she knows it, so she's also spoiled rotten. As the first grandbaby on my side of the family, she gets lots of attention there. She's like the youngest of 6 grandchildren on her dad's side (4 of them are step, but family still). Her cousin Preston is exactly 6 months older than she is. David and I got married in 2006 in Tulsa, OK after dating for more than 5 years. Jessica came along last summer, June 2007, and has been a real blessing in our lives. We love her bunches and bunches. I can't believe she's almost 9 months old already. Seems like she just finally hit 6 months and now it's been 2-1/2 months since then already. We moved to Arkansas last October when Jessica was just 3 months old with David's job. It's been really hard living in a new city, knowing no one and working from home with Jessica. It took us 4 months to find a home church and we're still working on getting to know people there. I'm really blessed that we did finally find a home church, though - it can be really difficult in a new city. Especially coming from Tulsa where there are soooooo many good churches and we went to such an awesome one (plug: BCTulsa.com!)

Anyway, I'm just keeping this blog to kind of journal things through life. I'm not really good at this, so I"ll probably miss a lot of things, but I'm still gonna try. :)

Starting out...

Blah. What a day - I feel so out of it. Jessica is in separation anxiety mode - but she is doing ok and getting through it well. I am dazed and really missing my computer (this is David's). I haven't gotten much of any work done this week. I think I'll just feel like things are back to normal (as normal as they can be in Arkansas) when I get my compy back.
